Poem: "Journey"

This one comes after "She Called Out" It's death speaking to her as though he is in love with her... It also makes me think of two people just moving forward together, unsure of what's a head but ready for the journey none the less.

Journey

Let’s go away and stay gone forever, as we tread this road
This dirty road,
Ridden with muddy foot prints and rotting cadavers,
Their identities swollen up by the very path
we prepare to embark upon.
That stench of the fallen who thought they’d make it.
We know we’ll make it. We’ll keep going.
Pass those broken bones and bleeding hearts,
Looking down at them with a sense of superiority
because we know we’ll go further,
Yet be ever so careful as to not step on them
Preserving those final positions that their failure had left them in
That will never be us, we’re stronger wiser
Those piercing looks of the dreamless eyes by your feet haunt
As we see a glimpse of possible defeat
But still let’s go
No fear.
Just hear those voices warning us beyond those hills
And still let go
Doesn’t your heart ache to proceed as mine does?
Along this road, this dirty road.
Let’s go
Blindly against that screaming horizon
Following only the winds of change
And the beat of the drum that is the heart.
Oh the heart. It whispers weak like the desert breeze
But its song as heavy as the sun crashing down on us
The beading sweat racing down on your cheeks
I’ll wipe it with the back of my hand
And offer that same hand to you
I’ll show you that this path is not one of deception but one
of redemption
Together we can make it
Let me lead you
Even if I don’t know the way

  1. Un-fucking-conventional. Love the death/love combination outside the usual "stalker/creeper" realm. A very good read. I love poetry. Great work.

"Pass those broken bones and bleeding hearts,
Looking down at them with a sense of superiority
because we know we’ll go further,"

    My favorite part.
